Union Station | Lincoln Memorial | Wedding | L & A

Looking for the perfect location to get married in the heart of the United States Capital? Union Station is one of the great choices! It is close to many of the Capital’s great sights.

Laura & August got married just outside the Union Station, surrounded by breathtaking architecture and magnificent columns Ohh, and the rice toss during the first kiss is an awesome idea! HAHA. I should also mention that the Union Station is also a beautiful place for family portraits.

After the ceremony, we headed to the Lincoln Memorial which is a 10 min ride away. Oh, and here is a tip for the parking there: The best spot to find parking near Lincoln Memorial is next to the Lincoln Memorial Beach Volleyball Courts on Parkway Drive NW, right by the Potomac River. All your friends and family can park at the same location and walk a short distance to the Lincoln Memorial.

Lincoln Memorial offers many ways to take breathtaking wedding or engagement pictures. It has an amazing view of the reflection pool as well as the Washington Monument. If you are planning to be there during the evening, I highly recommend staying there till the sunset. At that time, you can capture stunning golden hour pictures. Laura & August were there right before the sunset and we were able to capture pictures with an amazing view behind them.

Town of Washington

Just 70 miles from Washington D.C, you can find this incredible beautiful small town called “Washington,” located in the Shenandoah Valley. The town is more like an English village with a population of 150 people. In July 1749, 17-year old George Washington noted in his journal, “in the Blue Ridge Mountains I laid off a town.” The young George Washington laid out Washington's town in the same five-block by the two-block grid that exists today. The Virginia General Assembly officially established the town in 1796; there are now 28 Washingtons in the United States, but “The First Washington of All.”

The Inn at Little Washington

Two young men in 1978 converted a garage on the corner of Main and Middle Streets into a Five Star restaurant. In 1989, the Inn became the first inn to receive the Mobil Travel Guide’s Five Star award. For the first time in their 34 years of rating hotels and restaurants, Mobil announced that The Inn had received 2 Five Star awards. After the announcement went viral, politicians, celebrities, and country leaders went to “Little” Washington to see what is so unique about this place. Later on, the International Herald Tribune chose the Inn as one of the 10 best restaurants globally, and Travel + Leisure Magazine rated The Inn number 1 in North America and number 2 in the world in their World’s Best Awards.
